My good friend Mbugua Njihia of Symbiotic Media launched his mobile content platform Zunguka a few weeks back, I haven't had a lot of time to go through it but I'd have to say the wide array of services it provides makes it one of the best one stop mobile platforms available in Kenya right now. It currently provides a service for syncing contact information aptly named Sync this I think is one of the most important ones since its practical for any serious person who intends to keep their contacts after their phone gets "Ngetwad" (Slang for robbed), an SMS service that is way cheaper than what the mobile operators are charging called TumaSMS (Tuma is swahili for Send), to me those two services have a stickability aspect to them and high monetization if executed properly. I like the fact that his using Mpesa to accept payment for the services, even though Mpesa has no merchant version at this point, giving the user those options is definitely a step in the right direction. This is most definitely a service worth using, Timothy has just told me that his added a new server to his arsenal so I'm looking forward to some very interesting things from him and his team. Sidenote: Mbugua Njihia needs a personal blog, so I've decided to put him on Peupe :-) |
