Just a few things I noticed when I landed in Dubai International Airport at 5am on the 30th of June, 2008

  1. Extremely hot- it was 33 degrees celsius at 5am when the plane was landing.
  2. Hive of activity- the airport is obviously a transit point for a large number of people, its almost like the noah's ark of modern day times with the exception that this ark has multiple gates, every nationality can be spotted here.
  3. Concrete jungle- at a few hundred feet in the air all you see is one concrete building after another, may be I was looking in the wrong place.
  4. A symbol of modern day consumerism- there are shops on every corner of the airport, there is even a seafood bar. I wonder what they serve? squid cocktail.
